in addition to their beauty benefits, they also have serious drawbacks. In this article we have collected them.

The shocking secret of high heels

Nobody knows who invented the high heel shoe, only why. In the Middle Ages there were no
sewage system, people (even the beautiful noblewomen) ended up in a pot with
small and big things, even in the middle of the room, it was quite natural at the time.
As was the fact that the contents of the bedside tables were then spilled on the streets. A great deal of the
pee and poo caused several problems.
On the one hand, it stinks. On the other hand, all kinds of epidemics. Thirdly, that at any time
stepped on something, or worse, almost wiped it clean with elegant, flippy clothes
from the street, even if they arrive at an event in a carriage.
High-heeled shoes - originally, that is - were not invented to make little women look more beautiful.
but to keep their clothes out of the street dirt. Of course, this is now
has changed.

What happens to your body when you wear high heels?

There is a lot of research on how to walk as easily and optimally as possible. Scientists,
podiatrists (they deal with foot and foot diseases) and shoe manufacturers countless
hours to make the most lightweight and comfortable (ergonomic)
their shoes.
With high heels, this is almost impossible, so experts agree that high heels are the
heels can wreak havoc on your body! When you're wearing heels, the entire
your weight shifts forward. Instead of being evenly distributed across your entire foot, it is distributed to the soles of your feet / toes
is concentrated in. Why is this a problem?
Your heel is made up of just one bone: normally it takes your weight and distributes it to the
on your ankles on the soles of your feet. The toes, on the other hand, are made up of 21 smaller bones that are more flexible,
than they are strong (which is why they tend to be strong).
your toes and ankles to support your weight.

The negative effects of high heels

There are many ailments and pains associated with wearing high heels, but in total there are four main
category.

1: Foot pain

The first of the negative effects of high heels is usually foot pain.
But it's not just the sore feet you need to worry about. If you force it on your feet and toes,
to take your weight, you are more likely to develop blisters, corns,
calluses, damaged or ingrown toenails, hammer toes, even stress fractures.
(When the work and strain on it causes you to break a toe unnecessarily, for example)

2: Balance problems

Remember how uncomfortable you felt in your first pair of high heels? No wonder,
it's hard to balance while walking on tiptoe. It's especially hard in heels
in shoes when the heel is much narrower than your foot. When you wear heels,
your body's centre of gravity shifts. And the higher the heel, the worse the situation. This
you've probably felt it when a shoe "takes some getting used to", i.e. you have to
learn to walk in it. In time you will be able to do this, but your muscles, tendons and joints will still
are subject to physical strain during such unnatural walking. In addition, the
loss of balance makes ankle sprains, trips and falls more likely.

3: Leg and back pain

Your feet don't just help you walk, they support your whole body. And - as you can see
any architect can tell you - if the foundation is damaged, the whole house is at risk. When
wearing high heels, the lower part of your body leans forward to make it easier to
balance on your feet, which means that your upper body must lean backwards to do this
counterbalances. This posture (and the constant correction) puts excessive strain on the knee, the
hip flexors and lower back. Over time, the joints become sore and shift. If
you wear high heels every day, your muscles and tendons (such as the Achilles tendon)
can shorten and contract, making it difficult to walk - even in flat shoes!

4: Arthritis

Walking unnaturally in high heels can cause problems later on. A
high heels require a lot of extra strength from your knees and joints. When these joints
are forced to work harder, wear out faster, leading to pain, bone
can lead to problems.

What is the solution?

You can alternate between wearing high heels and flats to give your feet a rest. You can also
(like in the movies), that you take it off several times a day.
If the pain is constant and unbearable, your bones, muscles, tendons hurt, see a doctor. Proven
I also have ways to reduce your pain - in the long term.
