What is a Fascia knife and how does it work?

It sounds horrible to think that a chiropractor will treat your body with various metallic sharp objects - Fascia knives or knives - but Fascia knife treatment is not dangerous. Instead, it's amazingly effective, a method that can loosen up stagnant muscles and connective tissue, and give you an almost instant solution. Learn about Fascia Knife Treatment.

What is fascia?

The fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds the bones, wraps around the ligaments and connects almost everything together. In fact, fascia is what holds our internal organs and muscles in place in our bodies. But not only does it hold us together, it's also an amazing transport system, because it contains a lot of water, and it's in this water that hormones, immune cells and fresh oxygen flow. You feel good when this system is working well.

What happens if you have "fascia problems"?

When the fascia is damaged by an accidental injury (for example, your ankle falls out during exercise) or surgery (medical or minor cosmetic procedures), it thickens in a particular area. This causes the fascia to adhere to itself and the surrounding muscles and tissues, resulting in internal scarring. These scars and adhesions can restrict normal joint movement, leading to pain, dysfunction, further significant pain and even further injury.
A common example is back pain after abdominal surgery - a gall bladder removal or caesarean section. There seems to be no correlation, although scarring of the abdominal muscles can lead to protrusion of the pelvis through the abdominal tissues. We sit, sleep and lie differently and this posture causes pain over time. First just at one point and then all over the body.

The Fascia knife treatment

In Fascia Knife Therapy, the therapist "massages" the skin with objects resembling knives or blades that do what they can't do any other way: work deep into the connective tissue. The procedure is not the most pleasant, it can be painful, and a lot of rubbing can result in red spots as the capillaries just under the skin rupture. During the treatment, the therapist selects the knife or instrument best suited to the area - in its form - and uses slow, deep, even strokes to loosen and treat the connective tissue.

What does the treatment do to us?

Massage with the fascial blade gently relaxes the tissue, both externally and internally, thereby correcting joint function, reducing pain, improving flexibility, normalising posture and trunk stability. For many people, this can be an ideal solution for pain that has not been resolved by traditional methods.
